Childhood Asthma

In childhood asthma or reactive airways disease, the lungs and airways become easily inflamed when exposed to certain triggers, such as inhaling pollen or catching a cold. Possible signs and symptoms include:
1. Frequent coughing spells, which may occur during play, or at night .
2. A chronic cough ( which may be the only symptom) .
3. Complaint of chest tightness .
4. Whistling sound when breathing in or out- called wheezing.

Not all children have the same symptoms, and these symptoms can vary from episode to episode in the same child.
